Synthesis of alcohols

 

This process is carried out on look-alike laboratory equipment in Novosibirsk. The inlet propane-butane gas mixture (propane - 89 of %, butane - 10 of %, admixture of various hydrocarbonaceous gases - 1 %) was effected once at the moment of triggering ultrasonic activator. In a fig. 1 the dependence of a yield of alcohols on time of treating and pressure in activator is introduced. At smaller pressure (0,22 bar) 2 kinds of alcohols ethanol and n-propyl are synthesized, and at the greater pressure (0,45 bar) one ethanol is formed.

The processes of interaction of propane with water under action of ultrasound can be described by the following reactions:

If sum right and left parts given equations of reactions, we shall receive the equation of interaction of propane with water:

It is similarly possible to write the equations of interaction of butane with water, from which the overall equation is received:

The dependence of a yield of an ethanol on time of interaction of butane and water in ultrasonic activator is submitted in a fig. 2. The inlet of butane was made discretely by one-time doze 50 l. At pressure 0,5 bar. The water volume was equal 56 l. At recalculation to standard conditions the quantity of butane in process has acted 75 l, or 202,8 g. On stoichiometry from 1g of butane 1,586 g of an ethanol is received. Thus, in process 321,6 g of an ethanol should be received. The maximal concentration 0,55 % of an ethanol in process was achieved in 30 minutes after an inlet of butane. This concentration of an ethanol in 56 l waters there corresponds 308 g of an ethanol, i.e. rather high factor of a yield of an ethanol ≈ 96 % was achieved. It means, that practically all butane, started in process, has reacted with water and the ethanol turned into.

Both theoretically, and practically process of synthesis of alcohol of natural gas is possible which basically consists of methane, and it is very cheap and unlimited raw base. Besides if to mean an opportunity of cracking, it is possible as raw material to utillize practically any organic matter or organic wastes. If to take into account, that the offered way allows to receive practically free-of-charge energy of nuclear fusion, two basic components are excluded from volume of expenses on production: expenses on raw material and expenses for energy.
